The age difference between the members of the group created a hurdle in their marketing efforts, and they were dropped from Arista Records. In 1996, the four sisters returned together, this time under a new label, LaFace Records.

Their debut album So Many Ways was released in 1996, and it reached the USA Top 200 albums chart and R&B Top 40. Five singles were lifted from the album, with three of them charting inside the UK Top 40. A Masters At Work remix version of the single “The Boss” peaked at #1 in the Billboard Dance/Club Play Chart in early 1997.

Traci Braxton

Traci Braxton was a singer, songwriter, actress and TV personality. She grew up in Severn, Maryland, and was brought up in a strict household.

She starred alongside her sisters in the R&B group The Braxtons. They released their first single, “Good Life,” in 1990, but it was unsuccessful.

Her earliest musical experience was singing in her church choir. She also worked as a youth counselor and has a background in social work for children with disabilities.

Since she started her career, Traci Braxton has sold over 70 million records worldwide and won several awards. She is also an accomplished philanthropist and has given much of her adult life to social work for children with disabilities.

She died from esophageal cancer on March 11, 2022, and was surrounded by her friends and family at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Surratt and their son, Kevin Jr. Her net worth was estimated at $35 million USD.

Toni Braxton is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. She is the eldest of six siblings, and was born in Severn, Maryland to Michael Conrad Braxton Sr. and Evelyn Jackson Braxton (opera singer, cosmetologist).

She grew up singing in her church choir and attended Bowie State University, but she dropped out to pursue music professionally. During this time, she was discovered by songwriter William E. Pettaway Jr., who heard her singing to herself at a gas station and helped her land a record deal with Arista Records.

Her debut album, Toni Braxton, was released in 1990 and was a major success. It spawned several hits, including the title track. It was certified 8x platinum in the United States, and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Her second album, Secrets, was released in 1996 and achieved similar success. It was a multi-faceted effort, featuring songs written by Babyface and R. Kelly as well as other artists such as Tony Rich and David Foster. It topped the Billboard 200 and reached number one in most international charts.
